  I had hip replacement surgery in July 2016. "Dr." McClellan performed the surgery. I am still suffering with nerve damage, spasms in my foot, ankle and calf, right up to the top of my thigh. I have a Doppler every 3 mos. as I had a 4 inch blood clot in my shin, which I probably would not have had if there was air in the booties I was wearing during surgery. My calf frequently feels as though it is being sliced into and my foot and ankle feels as though it is in a vice, waking me up nights. After the surgery when I advised the "Dr.", his response was, "well, you signed a release." I guess the release absolves him of any responsibility. I have RSD which according to 3 REAL doctors in NY, is the equivalent of being hit with a bullet! It has subsided to a degree but I am constantly aware and experience discomfort, sometimes actual pain. I see a vascular surgeon to have an inflamed vein in my leg monitored; I see a neurosurgeon to monitor my perineal nerve and sciatica; an orthopedist who performed my left hip replacement surgery and restored my faith in physicians. Eight days after my surgery, I was able to climb a full flight of stairs and in 3 weeks was driving and shopping. This surgery was done in NY by a real surgeon. Even the difference in the incision is amazing and did not leave a dent as was left by McClellan. The question has come up as to who really did my surgery? Was it done by a resident? After 15 months, I am still experiencing problems all because of a poor choice I made in choosing a "surgeon." My doctors shake their heads when they see the scar on my right hip. I should have followed my instinct and come to NY for both surgeries. Difference in surgeons who have gone to great med schools and done residencies in renowned hospitals is night and day. Seriously think about whether or not you want to settle for inferior care and have a "Dr." who thinks that signing a "release" (as he calls it; it was a consent) makes everything right. Shop around. There is certainly a better doctor....don't take any chances. You deserve better than what he has to offer. I gave one star to enable me to leave a post; he deserves no stars, for sure.
